Rescuing Resilience in Our Schools
Limited Capacity seats available

Keynote discussion that provides a data-driven exploration of the critical skills and emotional resilience that seem to be fading in America’s brightest generation. Despite our best efforts as educators, the CDC and National Institute of Health (NIH) share deep concern for young adults, as evidence for increasing anxiety, depression, and suicide in most young age groups continue to rise. This presentation explores plausible causes for this worrisome trend and realistic strategies that should be implemented in school districts to improve the situation. Finally, the emotional impact that unstable students often place on staff and what can be done to navigate these difficult demands is thoroughly reviewed.

The Hype About Hyperdocs
Limited Capacity seats available

As teachers, we hear constantly about 21st century learning - molding students to be creative, collaborative, critical thinkers, and communicators. Then we ask them to sit quietly, while we explain everything, and tell them exactly how it’s to be done. HyperDocs - transformative, interactive Google Docs replacing the worksheet method of delivering instruction - are a great way to shift instruction from traditional, lecture-based learning to more student-centered learning. HyperDocs are created by teachers and given to students to engage, educate, and inspire learning. What could you put on a Google Doc it to engage, educate and inspire your students? Please bring your laptop and an idea about a lesson that you could transform using HyperDocs.

Making Time Work for You
Limited Capacity full

Change is a natural part of life. While some changes can affect the very structure of your life, other changes can have subtle impacts on your day-to-day activities. Sometimes you may be aware that a change is imminent but are uncertain about what it will involve and how it will affect your life. Situations like these can create ambiguity, worry, or a sense of loss and sadness. This seminar will address the emotional reactions that participants may experience when confronted with change, taking into account their personality and strength, and provide coping skills to enable them to manage change more effectively.

Please take the evaluation after this session.
